Macnica Announces Mpression Sodia Board with Altera®'s Cyclone V ST SoC

Yokohama, Japan – November 17, 2015: Macnica, Inc., a leading global technology distribution company, announced today its development of a new evaluation board "Sodia" with Altera's Cyclone V ST SoC, under its Mpression technology brand. Macnica showcases Sodia board with a live demo at Embedded Technology 2015/IoT Technology 2015 held at Pacifico Yokohama from November 18 to 20 in Yokohama. (Booth# A-16)

Sodia board is a development platform for embedded system designs with Altera Cyclone® V ST FPGA which allows hardware and software designers to quickly start designing in close-to-reality target application environment. Sodia is designed as a superset of Mpression Helio board (Cyclone V SoC Starter Kit) with software compatibility and most of the functions around Helio's HPS (Hardware Processor System) are inherited to Sodia board. Sodia is suitable for users who started their designs with Helio and require more functionality.

Mpression Helio board attained an affordable price by limiting the features to the minimum required for those users who want to start evaluating SoC FPGAs. It is functional enough for software developers, and thus it was very much successful in reaching many users. However, many of the users showed interest to go next step further with in a platform in which they can evaluate various kinds of designs with high expandability. Macnica took this interest seriously and developed Sodia to enable them to evaluate and develop more complex functionalities by positioning it to be a superset of Helio board and increasing FPGA capacity, adding an HSMC connector and audio/video interfaces.
